No booty shorts

I've been making a point whenever I go shopping with the girls to pick out modest clothing. No short skirts or shorts, no bathing suits that show too much tummy... etc. We went to a resale shop today and both girls made me proud. Rissa went into the dressing room and tried on a few skirts that she picked out herself. At one point I asked her to come out so I could see what she was wearing. She wouldn't even open the door and said "it's too short, I'm putting something else on" :). Later on I picked out a skirt for Ash to look at, it was in the wrong section so it was too small and too short for her. She said "Mom, it's too short" :). I was telling Paul about it tonight and then Ashley pipes up "we don't wear booty shorts". LOL!!!

I give in

Paul bought a GPS for me and I've resisted using it because I already know where most places are around town. And I feel that if I used a GPS all the time I wouldn't know how to get to places without it. BUT... I promised Paul I'd use it, so I turn it on to tell me where red light cameras are and to tell me what the speed limit is. Today I finally used it the way it was meant to be used... and it was AWESOME! I'm totally loving it. The only problem with using it is that when the GPS gives me directions I have to thank it each time otherwise Ashley gets very mad at me. My manners are horrible according to her standards. lol!

My kids crack me up!

I took the girls to the mall today after picking Rissa up from preschool. I took them to Claire's because Rissa has been asking about getting her ears pierced. We are looking at the jewelry and I turn around to see what Ashley is doing. She is hugging a total stranger. So I say "Ash, whatcha doing?" and she looks at me, very confused. The lady happened to be wearing an outfit very similar to mine. Ash looks up at the lady, who by the way is a very different race than me, and gives her a big smile, another hug and then she just starts dancing. I busted up laughing! It was SO funny.

I video taped Ash dancing soon after this happened. Anytime she hears music in a store she stops what she's doing and breaks out dancing just like this:

Wiggin' out

About once a year a total stranger asks me if I'm wearing a wig. For real? Does my hair REALLY look like a wig? And if it was a wig, who asks something like that??

A few nights ago I was at the gas station and the guy working behind the counter asked if this was my real hair. I said "Yes it is, why?". He didn't reply, then asked me again a few seconds later if it was my real hair. I laughed hysterically the entire ride home.

This is a wig:

And this is my hair:

NOT THE SAME THING.

Yeah... that wasn't allergies.

So what I thought was allergies was actually a slow painful death, also known as the flu. Paul, Rissa & I have been so sick over the past week. I don't think I've been this sick in 10 years. And Ashley has pink eye again. Her antibiotics didn't knock it out so she's on a stronger antibiotic now.

I've noticed that anytime Ashley isn't feeling well our dog, Molly, is right by her side the entire time. Licking her, snuggling with her and giving tons of attention to Ash. They are SO stinkin' cute together and BFFs.

I'm hoping that next week will be a total 180 of this week and last week.

Now to get this house cleaned up.

Are my pants too big?

Seasonal allergies are the devil

Well, it's Rissa's turn now. Two days ago she vomited several times due to drainage from her allergies. Today she's suffering from a bad headache, ear ache and sore throat. She's been napping for several hours, which VERY unlike her. This is the kid that hasn't napped since I was 8 months pregnant with Ashley. I really wish I could make her feel better, it's heartbreaking to see your sweet child feeling so crummy.

Paul and I are feeling it too, but Ash seems to be doing better. I never experienced allergies before moving to Texas, and it sucks.

How a bribe works

At some point when you have kids it crosses your mind that someday you're going to have to bribe them to clean their rooms. Should I bribe them with money? Toys? Treats/snacks? What would work best? In the Visentine house things work differently.

Last week I was working on a bribe to get the girls to clean their room. And it worked! The bribe: taking a shower. I actually bribed my kids to clean their room by telling them that they could take a shower. Killed two birds with one stone. SWEET!

So tonight I used a new bribe. Here's the story... My kids LOVE to clean. Well, clean anything other than their room. They love it so much that sometimes they get in trouble for cleaning too much. Crazy, I know. Tonight they were both trying to do the dishes, but I was trying to get them ready for bed. So I bribed them. I told them that if they clean their room tomorrow they can help me do the dishes. I should have had the camera ready for the excited expressions on their faces. Hahaha!

Pink Eye!

I'm convinced that Ashley really loves the color pink, she loves it so much that she has Pink Eye :(.

My poor baby looks so miserable, but she's just as sweet as always. This morning she woke up and couldn't open her eyes. After a few minutes she managed to get a little peep hole of sight and tried watching tv until I was able to clean her up. Not one bit of fussing from Ash though. I couldn't believe it.

Right now she's singing a song and taking pictures with her sister's camera. Shhh, don't tell Rissa.

Welcome to the Visentine Empire

I suppose it's time to start blogging again. Marisah & Ashley are doing and saying hilarious things each day and this is my chance to keep a journal of it all.

For those that haven't had a chance to interact with my kids much, here's a little summary of each of their personalities:

Marisah (Rissa) is a very energetic, smart & gorgeous little girl. When she was born she came out kicking and sassy. She's very inquisitive, loving & seriously cracks me up daily. She has the most hilarious comments, suggestions & ideas. Rissa tells it like it is, but has a very kind heart and is a great big sister.

Ashley (Ash) is my little love bug. She's very laid back, agreeable & snuggly. She has the sweetest baby doll face & gentle personality. As she grows she gets a little more sassy and is quite a funny little girl. She loves to copy her big sister and will do just about anything Rissa tells her to do.
